Offered Here: Ritchie Blackmore 1985 Stage Used, Smashed, and Autographed White Strat Style Partial Guitar. This lot features major parts from a white Fender electric guitar used and smashed on stage by Ritchie Blackmore during a Deep Purple encore performance on March 25, 1985, at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, NJ. The guitar is autographed by Blackmore in blue ink near the front bottom. It includes only a partial neck with a bent and rusted truss rod, with no serial number present. The guitar is in as-is condition due to its stage-smashed state, featuring loose internal components, a loose pickguard, and a missing selector switch tip.
Additional Information: Deep Purple's 1985 performance at Brendan Byrne Arena was part of their Perfect Strangers tour following their reunion and the release of the "Perfect Strangers" album in 1984, which marked their first studio album since 1975. This tour was highly anticipated, and the stage act, including Blackmore's iconic guitar smashing, was a memorable part of their live performances.
Provenance/Authenticity: Obtained during the 1985 concert from a fan who later secured Ritchie Blackmore’s autograph on it. The auction includes a letter of provenance and a Roger Epperson (REAL) Letter of Authenticity.
Condition: Stage used and smashed, the guitar has no head and a partial neck with a dangling truss rod, along with heavy damage to the body, loose internal parts, and a missing selector switch tip. It shows general wear consistent with being stage smashed.
