Offered Here: Van Halen 1995 Stage-Used Edward Van Halen Autographed Frankendrill. This item is a stage-used, autographed Makita "Frankendrill," initially a blue Makita cordless drill model 601HD. Transformed by Edward Van Halen, it became a legendary tool used during the performance of the intro to "Poundcake." The drill is custom painted with high-gloss paint and bears significant wear through the paint to the original blue plastic. Edward's signature and '95 VH are inscribed in blue ink near the trigger. It includes the original battery but has no charger and is sold as-is.
Additional Information: Edward Van Halen famously used customized power tools, like this Frankendrill, to produce the iconic sound in the intro of "Poundcake," a track from Van Halen's 1991 album "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge." The album was a commercial success, highlighting Eddie’s innovative approach to guitar work.
Provenance/Authenticity: For over forty years, Nick D’Andrea was more than a fan—he was a fixture in the Van Halen inner circle. Dubbed the "#1 Van Halen Guy" by the band members themselves, D’Andrea’s collection was built through a deep personal friendship with the Van Halen family. With a veteran history of 400+ shows, D’Andrea’s archive represents a rare, direct pipeline to the band, featuring items gifted to him throughout their legendary career. Letter of Provenance included from Nick D'Andrea who obtained it directly from Eddie Van Halen.
Condition: The drill shows wear consistent with stage use, including chipped paint, age discoloration, and general use. It is sold as-is with the original battery but does not include a charger.
