Item Details: Available for your bidding consideration is a piece of legendary rock club history featuring this Agora Theatre 1970s Cleveland, Ohio venue promotional ringer shirt. This vintage shirt pays tribute to the historic Cleveland Agora, which served as a major epicenter for the Midwest rock scene and hosted virtually every major touring rock act of the era. Printed on a classic Chev Craft Sportswear brand vintage blank, the shirt is tagged a size Large and lays flat with measurements of 19 inches pit to pit by 24 inches in length. Its authentic 1970s ringer styling paired with the iconic venue ties makes it an incredible relic for any collector of historic rock club memorabilia.
The Cleveland Agora, founded by Hank LoConti in 1966, became one of the Midwest's most important rock clubs, giving early stages to many artists before they reached arena audiences and helping establish Cleveland's reputation as a key market for breaking new rock acts. Its close partnership with radio station WMMS brought live concert broadcasts from the club to listeners across the region, including Bruce Springsteen's 1978 performance, which circulated widely among fans as a bootleg. The Agora also expanded into a chain of affiliated clubs in other cities, extending its influence on the touring circuit of the era.
Condition: The shirt is in good to very good condition, presenting with common signs of wear, ageing, and storage that reflect its genuine vintage age. There is overall discoloration and mild staining acrossthe top of the shoudlers and pits as well as a moderate amount of rust or oil spot staining located on the front of the shirt, as well as approximately three similar spots situated near the bottom hem on the back. The fabric itself remains strong, and the collar and cuff trim maintain their classic shape, giving this piece a fantastic, worn-in rock and roll character.
