This original and vintage RIAA certified Gold Record Award celebrates The Allman Brothers Band's 1973 album, Brothers and Sisters. Presented to Phil Walden, owner of Capricorn Records and a pivotal figure in the Southern Rock movement, the award acknowledges over one million dollars in sales of the album, which includes the band's hit "Ramblin’ Man." The award is a large format "white matte" style, measuring approximately 17 3/4 x 21 3/4 inches.
Additional Information: The Allman Brothers Band released "Brothers and Sisters" in 1973, their fourth studio album and the first to achieve major commercial success after the passing of guitarist Duane Allman. It topped the Billboard 200 chart for five consecutive weeks and included hits such as "Ramblin’ Man" and "Jessica," which became staples of classic rock radio. The album was instrumental in popularizing Southern Rock during the early 1970s.
Provenance/Authenticity: From the Capricorn Records collection.
Condition: This vintage white matte style award is in very good condition, displaying typical signs of wear, aging, and display consistent with its era. The wood frame shows noticeable wear, and there is liquid staining on the front right bottom of the matting and on the backing paper at the same location. The backing paper is intact but has several large tears across it. Despite these issues, the award is a significant historical piece.
