Offered Here: Black Sabbath 1970 Management Signed M-M Agency Ltd Marquee Club Contract
Item Details: This exceptional piece of heavy metal history features a historic 1970 performance contract from London's renowned Marquee Martin Agency Ltd for Black Sabbath's show on Tuesday, September 15, 1970, at the legendary Marquee Club. The document is boldly signed in red ink by Jim Simpson, the band's foundational first manager who famously convinced them to change their name from Earth to Black Sabbath. The contract is affixed behind a display matte board alongside a classic black-and-white magazine cutout of the band, culminating in a stunning museum-quality presentation that measures approximately 22 x 18 inches.
Black Sabbath, formed in Birmingham in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, are widely credited with defining the sound of heavy metal through down-tuned, riff-driven songs and dark lyrical themes. In 1970 the band released both its self-titled debut and Paranoid, the latter reaching No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and including songs such as "Iron Man" and "War Pigs" that became foundations of the genre. London's Marquee Club, a central venue on the British rock circuit, gave many emerging groups of the era an important platform as they built audiences beyond their hometowns.
