Formed in Birmingham, England, in 1968, Black Sabbath is widely credited with defining heavy metal through Tony Iommi's downtuned riffs, Geezer Butler's dark lyrics and bass, and Ozzy Osbourne's distinctive vocals on early albums such as Paranoid and Master of Reality. In 2013 Osbourne, Iommi, and Butler reunited to record 13, produced by Rick Rubin, which became the band's first album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The supporting world tour brought the core lineup back to arenas for the first time in years and was part of the band's final chapter, which culminated in its farewell tour ending in 2017.
