Blondie emerged from the mid-1970s New York punk scene centered on CBGB and became one of the most commercially successful acts of the new wave era, blending punk, disco, reggae and early hip-hop on hits such as "Heart of Glass," "Call Me" and "Rapture." After disbanding in 1982, the group reunited later in the decade and released No Exit in 1999, whose lead single "Maria" reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and made Blondie the first American act to top that chart in three different decades. The reunion renewed attention to the band's influence on later generations of pop and alternative artists, and Blondie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
