Offered Here: Canned Heat 1973 Tour Jersey
Item Details: This is an incredible opportunity to acquire a rare piece of vintage blues-rock history featuring an original 1973 tour jersey for Canned Heat. Commemorating the band during a prolific touring era in the early 1970s, this jersey features classic period-correct styling and graphics that capture the raw, boogie-rock energy the group was famous for. The garment is tagged as a size Large and measures approximately 20 inches from pit to pit by 24 inches in length, making it a stellar addition to any vintage rock tee collection or a standout display piece for fans of the historic Woodstock-era lineup. Genuine tour apparel from this chapter of Canned Heat's career is exceptionally difficult to come by, making this a highly collectible archive of classic rock merchandising.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by blues record collectors Alan Wilson and Bob Hite, Canned Heat helped bring pre-war Delta and Chicago blues to a rock audience, reworking older material into the boogie style heard on hits such as "On the Road Again" and "Going Up the Country." The band performed at both the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and Woodstock in 1969, and "Going Up the Country" became closely associated with the Woodstock era through its use in the festival's documentary film. Canned Heat also recorded "Hooker 'n Heat" with John Lee Hooker, released in 1971, and the group continued touring through the 1970s after Wilson's death in 1970.
Condition: The jersey is in good condition, presenting with an authentic vintage character that showcases common signs of wear, aging, and storage. The fabric exhibits general overall fading from age and laundering, and there is mild cracking throughout the printed graphics. Additionally, the garment features a handful of small holes located on the front body along with some small scattered stains. These natural elements of distress give the piece a perfectly broken-in, authentic rock aesthetic that underscores its genuine 1970s origin.
