Offered Here: Dolly Parton 1978 Lot of 2 BW 8 x 10 Prints of Dolly Parton With Microphone in NYC

Item Details: This exceptional lot features two original 8 x 10 black and white prints capturing the iconic Dolly Parton with a microphone, performing live on the steps of New York City Hall on August 21, 1978. Documenting her historic free lunchtime mini-concert that drew tens of thousands of fans following her presentation with the Key to the City. Sourced directly from the private collection of celebrated rock photographer Waring Abbott, both unique prints are individually signed by Abbott and numbered 1 of 1.

Provenance / Authenticity: The items in this lot are sourced directly from the personal archives of renowned photojournalist Waring Abbott. Abbott’s iconic imagery has graced the pages of Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, and countless foreign publications, alongside legendary album covers and photo spreads for KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan and others.

By 1978 Dolly Parton had moved beyond her years as a duet partner on Porter Wagoner's television program and achieved a major crossover into mainstream pop with the 1977 single "Here You Come Again," while that same year the Country Music Association named her Entertainer of the Year. Her success with audiences in large urban markets reflected the wider reach country music was gaining in the late 1970s. Her songwriting, including "Coat of Many Colors," "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," along with her later work in film and philanthropy, made her one of the most widely recognized figures in American popular music.
