Offered Here: Dolly Parton 1978 Lot of 2 BW 8 x 10 Profile Closeups of Dolly Parton in NYC

Item Details: This exquisite lot features two intimate 8 x 10 black and white portrait prints capturing close-up profile images of the iconic Dolly Parton outside New York City Hall on August 21, 1978. Taken on the historic day she was awarded the Key to the City and performed a massive, free lunchtime concert for tens of thousands of fans, these photographs beautifully capture the country legend's radiant energy. Sourced directly from the private collection of celebrated rock photographer Waring Abbott, both rare prints are individually signed by Abbott and numbered 1 of 2.

Provenance / Authenticity: The items in this lot are sourced directly from the personal archives of renowned photojournalist Waring Abbott. Abbott’s iconic imagery has graced the pages of Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, and countless foreign publications, alongside legendary album covers and photo spreads for KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan and others.

Dolly Parton's shift from Nashville country star to mainstream pop figure in the late 1970s was one of the most significant crossovers in popular music, carried by the 1977 album "Here You Come Again" and its title track, which brought her to pop radio and a far wider audience. By 1978 she had become one of the most visible entertainers in America, and that year the Country Music Association named her Entertainer of the Year. Her success outside the country market, built on a songwriting catalog that already included "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," helped open pop audiences to country artists and set the stage for her later work in film and television.
