Item Details: Up for auction is a rare piece of rock and roll history with this authentic Eagles 1970s vintage baseball style crew jacket. Manufactured by the highly collectible and period-correct W.A. Goodman and Sons brand, this jacket represents the golden era of one of America's greatest rock bands. It is a size 44, featuring classic crew styling, and lays flat with a pit-to-pit measurement of 24 inches and a total length of 28 inches. The legendary Eagles satin tour jackets were first commissioned in 1976 by the band's notorious manager, Irving Azoff. Issued just prior to the Hotel California tour, these high-quality satin varsity jackets were distributed strictly as exclusive items for band members, select friends, and core road crew. These jackets became a symbol of the tight-knit, fiercely protected "Eagles camp" run by Azoff—whom band members Don Henley and Glenn Frey famously and affectionately nicknamed "Satan" due to his ruthless, aggressive style of looking out for his clients' business interests.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, the Eagles blended country, folk and rock into a polished sound that defined the Southern California rock of the 1970s and became one of the best-selling American bands of all time. Their compilation Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) ranks among the best-selling albums in United States history, and the title track of their 1976 album Hotel California won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
