The Eagles, formed in Los Angeles in 1971, became one of the most commercially successful American bands of the 1970s, and their compilation Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) ranks among the best-selling albums in United States history. Released in 2007, Long Road Out of Eden was the group's first full studio album of new material since The Long Run in 1979, and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 despite being sold in the U.S. through an exclusive arrangement with Walmart rather than conventional retail channels. The supporting world tour brought the reunited lineup of Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit to arenas and stadiums across North America, Europe and beyond, reaffirming the band's standing as a major concert draw more than three decades after its founding.
