Offered Here: This 1978 Marshall JMP Mk 2 Amp Head (Serial No. 02613K) is a holy grail piece of rock history owned and used by Edward Van Halen during the band's peak eras. Coming directly from Eddie’s lead guitar and amp tech, Randall "Zeke" Clark, the head was acquired on the road in the mid-to-late 1980s. Clark meticulously rebuilt and modified the unit alongside famed amp wizard Jose Arredondo, working closely with Eddie to capture his legendary "brown sound." Once greenlit by EVH for studio and tour use, it was hand-stamped "Z5150 S" on the back. Clark, who maintained the band's gear through the monumental 5150, OU812, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge eras, provides impeccable provenance for this verified artifact. The amplifier remains in very good condition, showcasing authentic, stage-worn patina and common signs of road use.

Additional Information: The 1978 Marshall JMP Mk 2 Amp Head is renowned for its versatility and power, often used by rock guitarists for its distinctive tonal qualities. During the late 1970s and 1980s, Marshall was a leading choice for professional musicians seeking robust amplification, further popularized by Edward Van Halen’s iconic sound.

Provenance/Authenticity: Randall "Zeke" Clark is a renowned luthier and legendary guitar/amp technician who got his start in the San Francisco music scene in the 70s, working with various A-list artists until moving to LA in the 80s, where he worked for Eddie Van Halen. From 1985 to 1993, he served as Edward Van Halen’s lead guitar and amp tech, transitioning to the crew with Sammy Hagar to maintain the band's gear through the monumental 5150, OU812, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge eras. Beyond his historic tenure as the custodian of Eddie's tone, Clark's elite five-decade career includes building, repairing, and maintaining specialized gear for iconic artists such as Prince, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Heart, Poison, and others. This curated selection of items offers collectors a unique and direct connection to rock history through the hands of a master craftsman who shaped the sound of guitar royalty.

This item was personally handled, vetted, and released by Zeke Clark, ensuring its authenticity and rock-history provenance.
