Foreigner formed in New York in 1976 around English guitarist Mick Jones, formerly of Spooky Tooth, and American vocalist Lou Gramm, and became one of the defining acts of late-1970s and 1980s arena rock with hits such as "Feels Like the First Time," "Cold as Ice," "Hot Blooded," "Juke Box Hero," and "Waiting for a Girl Like You." The 1984 power ballad "I Want to Know What Love Is" reached No. 1 in both the United States and the United Kingdom. After a split in 1990, Gramm returned in 1992 alongside bassist Bruce Turgon, his longtime songwriting partner, and the Jones-Gramm partnership was later recognized with induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024.
