Offered Here: Gary Panter 2005 Framed Drawing for Ian McLagan. This pen and ink drawing features Ian McLagan, the keyboardist of the Faces and Small Faces, reimagined as a bee. Stamped and dated April 5, 2005, it is a 6 x 8 inch work by Gary Panter, the illustrator known for his work on Pee-wee’s Playhouse and punk iconography. The piece is presented in a glass frame measuring 8 3/4 x 10 3/4 inches.
Additional Information: Gary Panter, renowned for his contributions to the punk and underground art scene, is particularly known for his role in shaping the aesthetic of the 1980s children’s television program Pee-wee’s Playhouse. Ian McLagan joined the Small Faces in the mid-1960s and later appeared with the Faces. Known for contributing keyboards, McLagan's collaborations included performing and recording with legends such as The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and others.
Provenance/Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the private collection of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ian McLagan, legendary founder and keyboard player of iconic rock band The Small Faces / Faces. McLagan who also toured with The Rolling Stones, The New Barbarians and Bob Dylan, and recorded with dozens of artists. It will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Lee McLagan, on behalf of the Ian McLagan estate.
Condition: The artwork is in excellent condition, vibrant and well-preserved. The frame shows minor signs of wear and aging, consistent with its history, but these blemishes are limited to the frame and do not affect the integrity of the drawing itself.
