Offered Here: Genesis 1982 Six Of The Best Benefit For Womad Official Program

Item Details: Offered here is a historic artifact from a legendary moment in progressive rock history, capturing the iconic, one-night-only Genesis reunion event. This highly collectible program documents the monumental "Six of the Best" benefit concert for WOMAD, held on Saturday, October 2, 1982, at the famous Milton Keynes Concert Bowl. The beautifully printed souvenir details this extraordinary gathering, which brought Peter Gabriel back together with his former bandmates alongside an incredible supporting lineup that included John Martyn, The Blues Band, and Talk Talk. The vintage program survives in good condition with standard signs of age, storage, and handling. It exhibits authentic character from the day of the show, featuring typical corner bumps and a minor corner fold on the bottom left that do not compromise this remarkable piece of concert lore.

Peter Gabriel left Genesis in 1975, and the band continued as a trio of Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins, with Collins moving from drums to lead vocals as the group reached a wider mainstream audience. In 1982 Gabriel's newly founded WOMAD organization staged its first festival, which left him with significant debts, and his former bandmates agreed to reunite with him for a benefit to help cover the losses, marking the only full concert of the Gabriel-era lineup after his departure. The show drew on the band's early 1970s catalogue, and guitarist Steve Hackett joined for the encore, while WOMAD went on to become a long-running international festival and an influential platform for bringing world music to Western audiences.

Condition: Good with common signs of age, storage and handling. Also shows corner bumps with a minor corner fold in the bottom left.
