Offered Here: Ian McLagan 1960s Four Original Hand-drawn Portraits. This lot encompasses four original hand-drawn portraits by Ian McLagan, created during his time at the Twickenham College of Technology and School of Art. The 15 x 20-inch drawings, executed in blue and black ballpoint pen, feature a psychedelic line art motif depicting the artist himself and his close friends. These artworks provide an intimate glimpse into his social and creative circle prior to pursuing a career in music with The Muleskinners and the Small Faces.
Additional Information: Ian McLagan was an integral part of the British music scene, notably as a member of the Small Faces and later, the Faces. His transition from art student to musician occurred during the height of the British Mod and rock movements in the 1960s. McLagan's early involvement in the burgeoning counterculture and art scene laid the groundwork for his future musical endeavors.
Provenance/Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the private collection of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ian McLagan, legendary founder and keyboard player of iconic rock band The Small Faces / Faces. McLagan who also toured with The Rolling Stones, The New Barbarians and Bob Dylan, and recorded with dozens of artists. It will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Lee McLagan, on behalf of the Ian McLagan estate.
Condition: All four pieces are in good condition, with authentic characteristics of their age and student origins such as natural discoloration, possible pinholes from original display, and minor edge wear. The drawings measure 15 x 20 inches each.
