Jesse Johnson 1985 - 1986 Lot of 3 U.S. Test Pressing 7-inch Singles
In 1981 Jesse Johnson became the lead guitarist for The Time, a funk rock group formed by Prince. Although Prince basically wrote and recorded the first two Time albums on his own with input from Morris Day, Johnson did contribute to another Prince project, Vanity 6, with a song called "Bite the Beat" co-written with Prince. On The Time's third album, Ice Cream Castle, Johnson contributed to the hit singles "The Bird" and "Jungle Love", which were helped by the popularity of the Purple Rain film. Offered here is a collectible lot of three Jesse Johnson U.S. 7-inch test pressings from the Johnny "D" DeMairo collection. * 1985 test pressing A/B side: 'Be Your Man' in Good condition with moderate scuffing and scratches * 1986 test pressing A/B side: 'Crazay' with a runtime of 4:06 minutes / Matrix # A+M AM-02878-A ES 1 * 1986 test pressing A/B side: 'Crazay (7" Remix)' - with a runtime of 4:28 minutes / Matrix # A&M AM-02904-A ES 2 While the sleeve of the remix states "Prince on vocal," it does not appear to have Prince on background vocals. The mix is noticeably different. All records are in Very Good, Clean condition unless otherwise noted with common signs of ageing, storage, and wear. This 7-inch test pressing lot comes from the Johnny "D" DeMairo collection. A New York based DJ and producer, DeMairo founded Henry Street Music in 1994, which was also the year he started a 15-year tenure with Atlantic Records as an A&R / Remix coordinator and senior director of crossover music for Warner Music. He has authored two books and has been programming his internet radio station - The Johnny D Experience - since 2019. In the vinyl community, the 'Johnny D' collection of 7 and 12-inch acetates and test pressings is known to be among the largest, rarest, and most valuable in the world.
