In October 1975, KISS visited Cadillac, Michigan, for the high school's homecoming after football coach Jim Neff began playing the band's music to motivate a struggling team that went on to turn its season around. The town welcomed the band with a parade and a performance in the school gymnasium, and the visit became one of the most widely reported publicity events of KISS's early career. It came the same year the band achieved its commercial breakthrough with the double live album Alive! and helped show how KISS was building a devoted following in America's small towns as well as its big cities.
