Offered Here: KISS 1979 Dynasty Album Cover Print Proof
Item Details: This is a monumental piece of rock history featuring an original KISS 1979 Dynasty album cover print proof. Measuring approximately 15 by 25 1/2 inches, this rare production artifact offers a fascinating, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the marketing and design preparation for one of the band's most commercially successful eras. The proof showcases the classic, vibrant imagery prepared for the landmark album release, making it an extraordinary, museum-grade acquisition for any serious KISS Army collector or pop culture historian.
Dynasty, released by KISS on Casablanca Records in 1979, marked the band's move toward a polished pop sound under producer Vini Poncia, most clearly heard in the disco-influenced single "I Was Made for Lovin' You," which became an international hit and one of the group's best-known songs. The album's cover featured portraits of the four members in full makeup by fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo, reflecting the band's late-1970s peak as a merchandising and media phenomenon. Dynasty was also the last KISS album to credit all four original members on its cover before Peter Criss's departure, and his reduced role on the record, where session drummer Anton Fig played most of the drum parts, signaled the lineup changes that reshaped the band in the early 1980s.
Condition: The item is in good to fair condition, exhibiting extensive, authentic signs of wear, ageing, and production storage over the decades. The proof has been previously folded in half along the spine, resulting in heavy wear and a physical split along roughly a third of the bottom portion. Mild to moderate edge wear is present alongside varying degrees of dings on all corners, with the top corners showing large, distinct creases. The entire surface displays a natural patina with discoloration, staining, and scuffs that confirm its genuine age and historical utility.
