Offered Here: KISS 1981 Lot of 3 BW 8 x 10 Prints of Gene Simmons From The 1982 Video Shoot For "I"
Item Details: This exceptional lot features three original 8 x 10 black and white prints captured on November 1, 1981, offering an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at Gene Simmons during the music video shoot for the anthem "I." Documenting rare candid moments on set, the images feature the Demon defiantly raising his fist, adjusting his iconic makeup, and interacting alongside video extras and the cameraman. Sourced directly from the prestigious private collection of celebrated rock photographer Waring Abbott, all three unique prints are individually signed by Abbott and numbered 1 of 1, representing a premier acquisition for elite KISS collectors.
Provenance / Authenticity: The items in this lot are sourced directly from the personal archives of renowned photojournalist Waring Abbott. Abbott’s iconic imagery has graced the pages of Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, and countless foreign publications, alongside legendary album covers and photo spreads for KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan and others.
"I" appeared on Music from "The Elder," the 1981 concept album that marked one of the most ambitious departures of KISS's career. Produced by Bob Ezrin, who had previously worked with the band on Destroyer, the record traded the group's arena-rock formula for a fantasy narrative and orchestral arrangements, and its poor commercial reception led KISS to forgo touring behind it and return to a harder sound. The album was also Eric Carr's first studio release with the band, while Gene Simmons's fire-breathing, blood-spitting Demon character remained central to the theatrical image that made KISS one of the most recognizable acts in rock.
