Offered Here: Led Zeppelin 1980 Peter Grant Owned & Used The 1980s Part One Vintage Tour Bag
Item Details: This extraordinary artifact represents a poignant chapter in rock history, featuring a vintage Led Zeppelin The 1980s Part One tour duffle bag owned and used by the band's legendary manager, Peter Grant. Crafted in a blue and brown colorway, these bags were manufactured exclusively for crew and touring personnel in preparation for the group's highly anticipated 1980 North American tour, which was tragically canceled following the untimely death of drummer John Bonham. Adding immense historical weight to this piece, it served as Peter Grant’s personal bag before he gifted it to a crew member. Measuring approximately 40cm x 27cm x 30cm, or 15.75 x 10.75 x 11.75 inches, this rare survivor stands as an elite-tier piece of Led Zeppelin memorabilia with direct management provenance.
Peter Grant managed Led Zeppelin from its formation in 1968 and reshaped the economics of the concert business, negotiating deals that gave the band the large majority of gate receipts and shifting bargaining power from promoters to artists. The planned 1980 North American tour, billed as "The 1980s Part One," was meant to bring the band back to the United States for the first time since 1977, following its European dates that summer. John Bonham's death in September 1980 ended those plans, and in December the remaining members announced that they could not continue as they were, bringing Led Zeppelin's career as an active band to a close.
Condition: The tour duffle bag is in very good condition overall. It exhibits common signs of wear, ageing, and storage that are entirely appropriate for a fabric road piece of this vintage and pedigree.
