Abbott’s iconic imagery has graced the pages of Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, and countless foreign publications, alongside legendary album covers and photo spreads for KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan and others.
Lou Reed first gained notice as the principal songwriter of the Velvet Underground, whose frank portrayals of urban life and experimental approach to rock proved deeply influential on punk, alternative and art rock in the decades that followed. As a solo artist he reached a wider audience with Transformer (1972), produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson and featuring "Walk on the Wild Side," while continuing to pursue confrontational and unconventional projects throughout the 1970s. New York's The Bottom Line, an intimate Greenwich Village club, was a showcase for both established and emerging artists, and Reed, closely identified with the city throughout his career, was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both with the Velvet Underground and as a solo performer.
