Recorded in Jacksonville, Florida, before the band finalized their iconic name, this historic vinyl features the earliest studio versions of "Need All My Friends" and "Michelle." The record is in very good condition for its age with only mild wear, and it includes a thumb drive with WAV audio transfers.
Additional Information: In 1969, a promising local band called The One Percent was signed to a five-year recording contract by Shade Tree Records in Jacksonville, Florida. This band later evolved into Lynyrd Skynyrd, cementing their place in rock history. The songs "Need All My Friends" and "Michelle" were among their earliest studio tracks, recorded during this crucial period before the band relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to sign with Sounds of the South.
Provenance/Authenticity: These historic master tapes originate directly from the private archive of Shade Tree Records founders in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1969, the studio signed Lynyrd Skynyrd, then called The One Percent. The tapes were preserved and rediscovered in 1997, highlighting their historical significance in rock music. The six tracks that the band recorded with Shade Tree Records are, Need All My Friends, Michelle, No One Can Take Your Place, If I'm Wrong, He's Alive, and the iconic, Free Bird.
Condition: Very good with very mild surface wear, as-is. Included is a thumb drive with the audio files digitally transferred.
