"Smooth Criminal" was the seventh single from Michael Jackson's 1987 album Bad, the first album to produce five Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles. Its extended music video, a 1930s gangster-themed segment of the 1988 film Moonwalker, introduced the white suit, fedora and gravity-defying forward lean that became central to Jackson's stage image. The song became a showcase of the Bad World Tour, his first solo world tour, and remained a fixture of his live performances and choreography for the rest of his career.
