Provenance / Authenticity: The items in this lot are sourced directly from the personal archives of renowned photojournalist Waring Abbott. Abbott’s iconic imagery has graced the pages of Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, and countless foreign publications, alongside legendary album covers and photo spreads for KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan and others.

By 1977 Queen had become one of the leading arena rock acts on both sides of the Atlantic, touring behind A Day at the Races and, later that year, News of the World, the album that introduced "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions." Their concerts of the period combined Brian May's layered guitar work, elaborate lighting and staging, and the theatrical presence of Freddie Mercury, whose ability to direct and engage large audiences became a model for rock frontmen. Those two songs went on to become fixtures at sporting events worldwide, and the band's live reputation, later cemented by their 1985 Live Aid performance, remains central to Queen's place in rock history.
