Offered Here: Quiet Riot 1978-1987 Randy Rhoads Lot of 2 Unofficial LPs
Item Details: This is an exceptional lot for heavy metal historians featuring two difficult to come by unofficial LPs showcasing Quiet Riot and the legendary guitar virtuoso Randy Rhoads. The first record in this pairing is a copy of Quiet Riot's rare 1978 self-titled debut album, a release originally exclusive to the Japanese market. This particular iteration appears to be a scarce Canadian pressing dating from the mid-1980s. The second album is a highly collectible 1987 Randy Rhoads compilation entitled From Obscurity to Eternity. This expansive collection consists primarily of tracks from Quiet Riot's hard-to-find first EP, alongside an essential assortment of rare demos, rehearsals, and archival recordings. Together, these pieces offer a phenomenal audio document of the guitar icon's foundational years before his groundbreaking work with Ozzy Osbourne, making this lot a must-have acquisition for advanced rock and roll collectors.
Formed in Los Angeles in the mid-1970s by guitarist Randy Rhoads and vocalist Kevin DuBrow, Quiet Riot was a fixture of the city's club scene, though its first two albums with Rhoads were released only in Japan. Rhoads left to join Ozzy Osbourne's solo band, where his classically influenced playing on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman helped shape heavy metal guitar before his death in a plane crash in 1982 at age 25. A reconfigured Quiet Riot went on to release Metal Health in 1983, which became the first heavy metal album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200, renewing interest in the band's early Rhoads-era recordings.
Condition: The condition of the individual items varies but averages out to a very presentable set overall. The Quiet Riot debut LP is in very good condition with common signs of wear, ageing, and storage, including some minor edge and corner wear visible on the jacket. The Randy Rhoads vinyl disc itself is in very good condition, while its accompanying jacket is in good condition, exhibiting mild ring wear, edge and spine creasing, a prominent corner crease at the top left, surface scuffs, and corner dings. Additionally, there is a visible discoloration spot on the front cover of the compilation from historical liquid exposure.
