Rock Relics Auction Show 1970 Original Fillmore East Program, Handbill & Ticket Stub
Arguably the very first true music memorabilia auction ever held! Offered here is the 16-page original auction program (catalog) with final prices realized written in pen and pencil. The back of the program lists additional auction items that were added at the last minute. Further included is the original ticket to this event, as well as an original concert handbill (FME700911) with a full ad on the back. Very good condition. The prices realized will make your head spin! $14 for a John Binham drumstick, $50 for an Eric Clapton worn shirt, $260 for a Miles Davis Trumpet, $600 for the "Tommy" sign (The Who), only $30 for the violin bow used by Jimmy Page and $1,400 for the limo that used to carry The Beatles around. A pair of Keith Moon worn trousers went unsold, Townshend's broken guitar found a new owner for $75, and a Zappa coat ($50) was advertised as 'ugly.' Can we get a time machine please? This lot initially came from the collection of Jacaeber Kastor, a writer, artist, gallery-owner and curator of psychedelic art. He is the former owner of the successful Psychedelic Solution gallery in New York's West Village. Kastor had collected what at the time was believed to be a complete collection of Fillmore East programs, and tickets, in addition to original artwork, posters and handbills. After the closure of the gallery in 2004, Eric King, the highly respected authority on the Bill Graham poster series, authenticated this exceptional collection and brokered a sale some 20 years ago to the private psychedelic art collection of Jim Pallotta.
