Roger Waters co-founded Pink Floyd in 1965 and became the band's principal lyricist and conceptual driving force, shaping albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall, whose themes of alienation, war and loss set a lasting standard for the rock concept album. After leaving Pink Floyd in the mid-1980s he pursued a solo career, and in 2005 he reunited with his former bandmates for a brief performance at Live 8, their first appearance together in more than two decades. His elaborate staging of The Wall Live from 2010 to 2013 became one of the most commercially successful concert tours of its era.
