Rush, the Toronto trio of bassist and vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart, became one of the most influential bands in progressive and hard rock, known for complex arrangements, instrumental virtuosity and Peart's literary, often philosophical lyrics. Across albums such as "2112," "Permanent Waves" and "Moving Pictures," the band built a devoted international following, and its musicianship shaped generations of rock and metal players. The lineup, unchanged from 1974 until Peart's death in 2020, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
