Offered Here: Soundgarden 1991 Badmotorfinger In-House Gold Album Award Presented to Mike Ramsey
Item Details: Presented here is a monumental piece of grunge rock history featuring this Soundgarden 1991 Badmotorfinger in-house gold album award presented to Mike Ramsey. Issued by A&M Records, this prestigious award commemorates the certified sale of more than 500,000 copies of the band's breakthrough album across vinyl record, cassette tape, and compact disc formats. This authentic industry artifact comes directly from the personal collection of Magic Mike Ramsey, the legendary radio personality who served as a DJ for El Paso's KLAQ Radio for 24 years. Celebrated as El Paso's most popular DJ, Ramsey built lasting friendships with countless artists, making this personalized piece of provenance an incredible centerpiece for any serious music history collection. The framed display measures 13 inches by 17 inches.
Soundgarden's third studio album, Badmotorfinger, was released by A&M Records in October 1991, arriving within weeks of Nirvana's Nevermind as the Seattle scene broke into the mainstream, and it was the band's first record with bassist Ben Shepherd. Built on Kim Thayil's detuned riffs, odd time signatures and Chris Cornell's wide-ranging voice, the album produced the singles "Jesus Christ Pose," "Outshined" and "Rusty Cage," the last later covered by Johnny Cash, and it earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. Its success set the stage for 1994's Superunknown and helped establish Soundgarden, one of the first Seattle grunge bands to sign with a major label, as one of the defining heavy rock acts of the decade.
Condition: The award is in extremely good condition, presenting with only common signs of wear, ageing, and storage consistent with its decades of display. The frame remains structurally solid, the glass is clean, and the internal components—including the gold disc, album artwork, and presentation plaque—are beautifully preserved. It is a striking, museum-quality presentation piece that is ready to be showcased immediately.
