Offered Here: The Beatles 1970s George Harrison Dark Horse Records Promotional T-shirt
Item Details: This is an exceptional and highly sought-after piece of rock history featuring an original 1970s promotional t-shirt for George Harrison’s boutique label, Dark Horse Records. Founded by the former Beatle in 1974, Dark Horse Records remains a monumental chapter in Harrison’s solo career and post-Beatles legacy. The shirt features a tagged size Medium and measures approximately 18 inches from pit to pit by 24 inches in length, capturing the iconic fitted silhouette of vintage 1970s rock apparel. Authentic record label promotional items from this era are remarkably scarce, making this shirt a prime acquisition for dedicated fans of George Harrison, Beatles completists, and connoisseurs of vintage rock merchandising.
George Harrison founded Dark Horse Records in 1974, establishing an outlet for artists he admired, including Ravi Shankar and the British duo Splinter, at a time when his former band's Apple label was winding down. Initially distributed by A&M Records, the label moved to Warner Bros. in 1976 and became the home of Harrison's own solo work beginning with "Thirty Three & 1/3" that year. The label reflected Harrison's continuing interest in Indian music and in supporting other musicians, and it remained a vehicle for his recordings for the rest of his career.
Condition: The t-shirt is in good condition, remaining completely structurally sound with secure seams and durable fabric despite the natural passage of time. It exhibits expected signs of wear, aging, and long-term storage consistent with an authentic vintage garment. Notably, there is plentiful oil-based staining distributed across the body of the fabric. This distinct distressing provides a genuine, lived-in character that underscores its decade-spanning history and appeal as a real-world vintage artifact.
