Item Details: Get ready to celebrate one of the most explosive and definitive albums of the eighties with this authentic RIAA gold sales award for Van Halen's monumental masterpiece, 1984. Commemorating the spectacular commercial success of generation-defining anthems like "Jump," "Panama," and "Hot for Teacher," this highly collectible accolade is designed in the classic flower hologram style of the era. The coveted configuration beautifully showcases both the gold record and cassette formats on a striking display layout. Adding unparalleled, inner-circle provenance that serious collectors dream of, this award is officially presented to Zeke Clark, Van Halen's legendary longtime guitar technician. Measuring approximately 17 x 21 inches, this magnificent award captures the absolute peak of the band's global pop-rock supremacy and Eddie Van Halen's enduring musical legacy.

Provenance/Authenticity: Randall "Zeke" Clark is a renowned luthier and legendary guitar/amp technician who got his start in the San Francisco music scene in the 70s, working with various A-list artists until moving to LA in the 80s, where he worked for Eddie Van Halen.

From 1985 to 1993, he served as Edward Van Halen’s lead guitar and amp tech, transitioning to the crew with Sammy Hagar to maintain the band's gear through the monumental 5150, OU812, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge eras.

Beyond his historic tenure as the custodian of Eddie's tone, Clark's elite five-decade career includes building, repairing, and maintaining specialized gear for iconic artists such as Prince, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Heart, Poison, and others. This curated selection of items offers collectors a unique and direct connection to rock history through the hands of a master craftsman who shaped the sound of guitar royalty.

This item was personally handled, vetted, and released by Zeke Clark, ensuring its authenticity and rock-history provenance. Zeke Clark utilizes an Official Personal Signature Stamp to validate and inventory documents and artifacts released directly from his private estate. This item comes with his personal ink-imprinted signature stamp on the certificate of authenticity, which serves as his legally binding, authorized mark of verification and carries the full weight of a hand-signed signature.

Released in January 1984, Van Halen's sixth studio album 1984 was the last of the band's original run with singer David Lee Roth and the first recorded at Eddie Van Halen's home studio, 5150. Its lead single "Jump," built around Eddie's synthesizer riff, became the band's only No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, kept from the top spot by Michael Jackson's Thriller, on which Eddie had played the guitar solo for "Beat It." Supported by heavy MTV rotation for "Jump," "Panama," and "Hot for Teacher," 1984 was eventually certified Diamond by the RIAA and showed that hard rock guitar virtuosity and synthesizer-driven pop could coexist on mainstream radio.

Condition: The award is preserved in very good condition, presenting an exceptionally clean appearance with common signs of wear, aging, and storage expected of a genuine music industry artifact from this legendary era. The front plexiglass shows faint surface scuffs that do not detract from the overall presentation, while the gold album covering exhibits minor vintage wrinkling. Internally, the presentation plaque has lightly lifted at the top, and the album mockup has also slightly lifted from the background matrix. The classic RIAA hologram sticker shows some blemishing in one corner, validating its authentic age. On the reverse side, the backing board has surface tearing along the bottom edge and running up one side, which remains hidden from view when displayed and preserves the award's original structural history.
