Offered Here: ZZ Top 1985 Autographed Color Positive Cashbox Newspaper Transparency
Item Details: This unique piece of rock memorabilia features the original color positive cover transparency from ZZ Top’s historic appearance on the cover of Cashbox newspaper on November 2, 1985. This one-of-a-kind production item is fully autographed by all three band members in red grease pencil, a medium traditionally used in photo editing, with Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard each signing directly over their respective images. Professionally presented, the transparency comes mounted to a black-and-white matte board and measures approximately 15 x 18 inches. While mild, age-appropriate fading has occurred to the image over time, it remains in overall very good condition with vibrant, bold signatures.
ZZ Top formed in Houston, Texas, in 1969 and became one of the longest-running lineups in rock, with Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard performing together for more than five decades until Hill's death in 2021. Rooted in Texas blues and boogie, the trio reached a new mass audience with 1983's Eliminator, which blended its guitar-driven sound with synthesizers and sequenced rhythms. MTV videos such as "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man," and "Legs" made the band's long beards, sunglasses, and customized hot rod among the most recognizable images of the decade. The group followed with Afterburner in 1985 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Condition: Very good, light fading due to age.
