Offered Here: Zeke Clark 2001 Custom Made Mandolin For George Harrison With COA

Item Details: Own a truly profound piece of rock-and-roll history with this custom-made Appalachian mandolin, commissioned for the legendary Beatle himself, George Harrison. In the late 1990s, renowned guitar tech Zeke Clark regularly jammed on acoustic instruments with local friends and musicians such as Eric Idle, George Harrison and others. This camaraderie inspired Zeke to track down an elite, highly elusive Kentucky luthier to craft a one-of-a-kind instrument as a heartfelt gift for Harrison. Though Harrison sadly passed away before the masterfully built instrument could be delivered, this beautiful tribute remains, boldly stamped with his name across the back of the headstock and featuring incredibly ornate pearl inlay.

The instrument is a testament to extraordinary craftsmanship and is engineered to deliver a glorious, resonant tone. Visually stunning, it features rich gold hardware, beautifully cut f-holes, mother-of-pearl binding, head design and frets meticulously inlaid with a gorgeous rose motif. Turning the instrument over reveals the true showstopper, a breathtaking mother-of-pearl peacock and flowers inlay sprawling across the back. This rare and deeply sentimental piece comes accompanied by a plush-lined hardshell case, a nylon strap, and a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) to solidify its incredible place in musical lore.

Provenance/Authenticity: Randall "Zeke" Clark is a renowned luthier and legendary guitar/amp technician who got his start in the San Francisco music scene in the 70s, working with various A-list artists until moving to LA in the 80s, where he worked for Eddie Van Halen.

From 1985 to 1993, he served as Edward Van Halen’s lead guitar and amp tech, transitioning to the crew with Sammy Hagar to maintain the band's gear through the monumental 5150, OU812, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge eras.

Beyond his historic tenure as the custodian of Eddie's tone, Clark's elite five-decade career includes building, repairing, and maintaining specialized gear for iconic artists such as Prince, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Heart, Poison, and others. This curated selection of items offers collectors a unique and direct connection to rock history through the hands of a master craftsman who shaped the sound of guitar royalty.

This item was personally handled, vetted, and released by Zeke Clark, ensuring its authenticity and rock-history provenance. Zeke Clark utilizes an Official Personal Signature Stamp to validate and inventory documents and artifacts released directly from his private estate. This item comes with his personal ink-imprinted signature stamp on the certificate of authenticity, which serves as his legally binding, authorized mark of verification and carries the full weight of a hand-signed signature.

George Harrison, lead guitarist of the Beatles, helped expand the sound of popular music by introducing the sitar and Indian classical influences to Western rock on recordings such as "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)," and wrote some of the band's most enduring songs, including "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun." After the Beatles split, his triple album All Things Must Pass (1970) established him as a major solo artist, and his 1971 Concert for Bangladesh became a model for the large-scale rock benefit concert. Harrison later co-founded HandMade Films to finance Monty Python's Life of Brian and joined Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne in the Traveling Wilburys before his death in November 2001.

Condition: Very good, sold as-is. Mandolin comes with hardshell case, nylon strap, various small parts.
