Provenance / Authenticity: This lot comes directly from the personal collection of John Douglas, premier drum technician and custom designer for Alex Van Halen from 1997 to 2015. Over a prolific career spanning decades in the rock industry, Douglas has served as a trusted tour technician and custom builder for iconic acts including Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Bon Jovi, and Maná. Renowned for his striking visual craftsmanship, he has personally built and custom-painted drum kits for elite musicians such as Chad Smith, Vinnie Paul, Iron Maiden, and Guns N' Roses. This item is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity individually hand-signed by John Douglas.
Alex Van Halen co-founded Van Halen with his brother Eddie in Pasadena, California, and his drumming anchored one of the most commercially successful American hard rock bands from the release of its 1978 debut album onward. Known for a large, powerful kit setup and the driving double bass drum work heard on tracks such as "Hot for Teacher," he helped define the sound of late-1970s and 1980s hard rock and influenced generations of rock drummers. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen in 2007.
