Provenance / Authenticity: The items in this lot are sourced directly from the personal archives of renowned photojournalist Waring Abbott. Abbott’s iconic imagery has graced the pages of Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, and countless foreign publications, alongside legendary album covers and photo spreads for KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan and others.
Bob Marley & The Wailers' 1975 Natty Dread tour was the group's first major tour after the departure of founding members Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, with Marley now billed as frontman and backed by the I Threes vocal trio of Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt. Released on Island Records, Natty Dread included songs such as "No Woman, No Cry," "Lively Up Yourself" and "Them Belly Full (But We Hungry)," and the tour's live performances helped build the international audience that carried reggae beyond Jamaica. Marley's fusion of Rastafarian spirituality, social protest and accessible songwriting made him the most widely recognized figure in reggae and one of the first artists from the developing world to achieve global stardom.
