Frank Beard has been ZZ Top's drummer since 1969, and with guitarist Billy Gibbons and bassist Dusty Hill he formed one of rock's longest-running unchanged lineups, a trio known as "that little ol' band from Texas." His steady, economical grooves anchored the band's blend of blues boogie and hard rock, from early Southern rock records through the synthesizer-driven sound of "Eliminator" and "Afterburner," which brought ZZ Top major success in the MTV era. The band continued that approach on 1990's "Recycler," and ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
