Offered Here: KISS 1977 Love Gun Album Artwork Advertising Transparency
Item Details: Up for auction is a captivating piece of music industry history featuring a KISS 1977 Love Gun album artwork advertising transparency. This rare artifact is a black and white transparency depicting the striking, iconic album cover from the legendary rock band's platinum-selling sixth studio album, Love Gun. Originally produced for industry use, this item was designed to facilitate promotional printing and media advertising layout campaigns during the absolute peak of the group's global prominence. The central image itself measures approximately 10 1/4 x 10 3/4 inches, set within a total transparency sheet dimension of roughly 11 x 14 inches. A unique and practical relic from the pre-digital era of music marketing, this item represents an incredible display piece for advanced collectors of rock music memorabilia and graphic design history.
Released in 1977 as KISS's sixth studio album, Love Gun arrived at the height of the band's late-1970s popularity and became its highest-charting album up to that point, reaching No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Its cover, painted by fantasy artist Ken Kelly, who had also created the artwork for Destroyer, showed the four members in full makeup and costume and reflected how central visual imagery and merchandising had become to the KISS identity. The album also marked guitarist Ace Frehley's first lead vocal on a KISS record, "Shock Me," and helped set the stage for the band's ambitious 1978 releases, including four simultaneous solo albums.
Condition: This archival advertising transparency is preserved in remarkably good condition, showing only minor signs of wear, ageing, and storage consistent with premium vintage media materials. The delicate film surface retains excellent clarity with minimal handling marks or surface scuffs, ensuring the historic visual elements remain sharp and well-defined.
