The front of the instrument is boldly signed in vibrant silver paint marker by Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer, and Peter Criss. Offered in good condition and sold strictly as-is, this iconic, stage-style guitar shows rock-and-roll character with missing and chipped paint near the front and rear bottom, around the headstock, and on the neck, alongside scratches near the top and rear. KISS formed in New York City in 1973 and became one of the most commercially successful American rock bands, known for their face-paint personas, pyrotechnic stage shows and an extensive merchandising operation that shaped how rock acts marketed themselves to fans. The early 2000s marked a transitional period in which guitarist Tommy Thayer took over the Spaceman character from Ace Frehley alongside founding members Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss, a step that helped the band continue performing in full makeup with a changing lineup. The band's influence on arena rock was formally recognized with their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
