Mana Alex Gonzalez 2015 Custom Painted 14-Inch Octoban Cama Incendiada Tour
Mana is a Mexican pop rock band formed in 1981. Originally called Sombrero Verde, the current lineup of members is vocalist-guitarist Fher Olvera, drummer Alex Gonzalez, guitarist Sergio Vallin and bassist Juan Calleros. The band is one of the best-selling Latin Mexican music artists and the most successful Latin American band of all time with over 45 million records sold worldwide. Mana has earned four Grammy Awards, eight Latin Grammy Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards Latin America, six Premios Juventud awards, 19 Billboard Latin Music Awards and 15 Premios Lo Nuestro awards. Offered here is a 14 x 6-inch octoban shell, hand-painted by John Douglas for Alex Gonzalez, to be used on the 2015 Cama Incendiada Tour. Eventually this octoban was not used as the holes for the silverware were drilled in the wrong place. Alex signed this shell in 2023 and it is in excellent condition. Douglas commented "this is for the “burnt” Mana DW rata tom. I painted these rata toms in 2015 before we realized they were drilled for the wrong mounting bracket, so I ordered new ones to paint. The last couple photos in this listings are placed here for illustration purposes only. They show the 'burnt' kit on stage, as well as in pre-production at Douglas' workshop. This lot comes from the private collection of John Douglas, professional drummer and veteran drum technician for Alex Van Halen, Tico Torres, Joey Kramer and others. In recent years, John has performed on various tours with Aerosmith, ZZ Top and Billy Gibbons. Outside of his renowned drum skills, Douglas is an established artist who's paintings are highly collectible and frequently the center of art gallery exhibitions around the country. He has also painted countless drum kits, kickdrum heads and gongs for the likes of Alex Van Halen, Nicko McBrain, Frank Beard, Alex Gonzalez, Tico Torres, Joey Kramer and others. Included with this lot is a John Douglas signed Certificate of Authenticity.
