Offered Here: ZZ Top 1983-1984 Eliminator Tour Lot of 9 Concert Tickets
Item Details: Up for your bidding consideration is a fantastic piece of rock history featuring this ZZ Top 1983-1984 Eliminator Tour lot of 9 concert tickets. This impressive collection spans from June 1983 through May 1984, capturing the exact era when the Texas trio became a global stadium phenomenon following the release of their diamond-certified Eliminator album. The lot includes a mix of nine unique United States and international tour tickets, documenting various stops on one of the most visually iconic and commercially successful arena rock tours of the 1980s. This is a ready-made archive for any pop culture historian or dedicated rock memorabilia collector.
Provenance / Authenticity: This lot comes from the archives of Bill “Pete” Tickle, who was hired as a crew member in 1969 by ZZ Top manager Bill Ham. With there already being two Billy’s (Gibbons and Ham), and to avoid any additional first name confusion, Tickle was called “Pete” from that point forward. In the years following, Tickle contributed to the recording of the song “Mushmouth Shoutin” in 1972 on the Rio Grande Mud album, became production manager, and eventually the band’s tour manager. He parted ways with ZZ Top in 1984 and passed away in 2018.
ZZ Top's 1983 album Eliminator marked a turning point for the Texas trio, pairing their blues-rock roots with synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines to create a sleek, modern sound that reached a far wider audience than their earlier work. Its singles, including "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs," were backed by heavily rotated MTV videos featuring the band's long beards and a red customized 1933 Ford coupe, making the group one of the most recognizable acts of the early music video era. Eliminator went on to be certified Diamond by the RIAA for sales of more than ten million copies in the United States, and the tour that followed established ZZ Top as a major arena attraction through the rest of the decade.
Condition: The concert tickets are in very good to good condition overall, showing common signs of wear, ageing, and storage consistent with their age and use. Some tickets may feature typical venue stubs or gate checks, while the paper stock across the lot remains well-preserved with legible print, clear dates, and vibrant vintage ticket graphics.
