Offered Here: Zeke Clark 1960 Black Fender Precision Bass Guitar With COA

Item Details: Own a piece of hard-earned rock-and-roll history with this beautifully road-worn 1960 black Fender Precision Bass, coming straight from the private collection of legendary guitar tech Zeke Clark. Bearing the serial number 387460, this heavily gigged vintage bass features 20 frets and a split pickup system, packing all the low-end punch that defined a generation of music. The instrument wears its extensive touring history proudly, showing heavy battle scars that include missing paint on the front near the bridge, substantial wear across the back and along the edges, scratches, gouges, and dings. Originally purchased by Zeke Clark from Raymond Thomas, this classic bass is sold strictly as is, comes with its original case, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, offering a rare opportunity to add an authentic, beautifully aged powerhouse to your collection.

Provenance/Authenticity: Randall "Zeke" Clark is a renowned luthier and legendary guitar/amp technician who got his start in the San Francisco music scene in the 70s, working with various A-list artists until moving to LA in the 80s, where he worked for Eddie Van Halen.

From 1985 to 1993, he served as Edward Van Halen’s lead guitar and amp tech, transitioning to the crew with Sammy Hagar to maintain the band's gear through the monumental 5150, OU812, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge eras.

Beyond his historic tenure as the custodian of Eddie's tone, Clark's elite five-decade career includes building, repairing, and maintaining specialized gear for iconic artists such as Prince, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Heart, Poison, and others. This curated selection of items offers collectors a unique and direct connection to rock history through the hands of a master craftsman who shaped the sound of guitar royalty.

This item was personally handled, vetted, and released by Zeke Clark, ensuring its authenticity and rock-history provenance. Zeke Clark utilizes an Official Personal Signature Stamp to validate and inventory documents and artifacts released directly from his private estate. This item comes with his personal ink-imprinted signature stamp on the certificate of authenticity, which serves as his legally binding, authorized mark of verification and carries the full weight of a hand-signed signature.

Introduced by Leo Fender in 1951, the Fender Precision Bass was the first mass-produced electric bass guitar, and its fretted neck gave players accurate intonation and a portable, amplified alternative to the upright bass. A 1957 redesign introduced the split-coil pickup and contoured body that became the model's standard configuration, and instruments from this pre-CBS period of Fender's history remain closely studied by players and collectors. The Precision Bass became a foundation of popular music across the following decades, heard on James Jamerson's Motown recordings and adopted by bassists in rock, soul, punk and metal.

Condition: Good, sold as-is. The guitar displays heavy wear with missing paint on the front near the bridge, heavy wear on the back, missing paint on the rear, scratches, gouges, heavy wear along the edges and dings.
